Blue Mountain Retreat is a 6,500 square-foot country house on 20 private acres in Chimacum, with a view of Center Valley and the Cascades.

Inside, it sleeps 25. Cook in the big country kitchen, then spread out across three living rooms. Outside: woods, a ravine, and an open field. Inside: a playroom, a room with 250 soft blocks, and a LEGO room. They make it up. They stay at it for hours.

We offer one guarantee: your kids will ask to come back. Dave and Patti own the house. If you have a question, call.

A typical stay

The adults get the kitchen. The kids get everything else.

They don’t need a schedule

Soft blocks, LEGOs, trikes, the woods, the ravine, the field. You cook. You sit. They come back when they’re hungry.

Dinner doesn’t need a reservation

Double convection oven, a 5-burner gas stove, place settings for 30, seating for 19 inside and 12 more on the deck.

You don’t have to get back in the car

Fire pit, jacuzzi, three living rooms, a piano, satellite TV. Quiet hours start at 10:00 PM.

We don’t run a kids’ club. We give them rooms and land and stay out of the way. Foosball, ping-pong, trikes, a piano, a baseball field, a fire pit, a pond, and a 7-person jacuzzi are already here.

How many can sleep here, how you pay, pets, and whether this is the Idaho lodge.

How many people can stay?

Twenty-five, day and night. If you want extra people for a daytime gathering, we can host up to 50 with a $3,000 event fee. Overnight is still 25.

Do you take credit cards?

We don’t. Payment is an electronic check or a check in the mail. That’s how this house has always been booked — directly with us.

Are pets allowed?

No animals, and we don’t make exceptions. There’s boarding in Port Hadlock, about eight miles away: dogandigroomandboard.com.

What are check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is 4:00 PM. Check-out is 11:00 AM. Quiet hours start at 10:00 PM.

Is this the same as Three Peaks Lodge?

Same owners, different house. Blue Mountain Retreat is in Chimacum, Washington — 6,500 sq ft, sleeps 25, payment by check. The Idaho lodge is threepeakslodge.com.

How far is Fort Worden from the house?

About 16 miles — 20 to 25 minutes through Port Townsend. Kayak rentals and whale-watch boats leave from the same town.

Do we need to leave the property?

You don’t have to. Most groups spend the week in the woods, the playrooms, and the kitchen. Town and the parks are half-days if you want them — not a driving vacation.
